#maplesyrupmonday with Catherine Pooler Designs

Have you tried Catherine Pooler inks yet??? If the answer to that question is a no, then you need to grab yourself a few and give them a try!!

I brought this line into the shop a few months back and it has since become a favorite for many people, including myself! The inks lend themselves so well to a variety of techniques but for this card I chose to simply go with straight up Stamping!

For the Stamp Set I chose the “Eat, Sleep, Create” Set and the new ink colours that were just released: Grape Crush, Be Mine, Limoncello and All That Jazz along with the awesome Midnight Black Ink which is also great to use with alcohol markers as well as watercolouring, talk about versatile eh!?

I matted the card front onto a piece of Black Tie Gala paper (also by Catherine Pooler).

In case you are unfamiliar with the #maplesyrupmonday posts, Laurie from It’s All Cut and Die and myself have teamed up to show you projects biweekly featuring companies we love all just tonhave a bit of fun, and we like to give things away on occasion too 😉

More #maplesyrupmonday with Stamping Bella

So the last #maplesyrupmonday post was a little light spa here is another 🙂

For This card I have chosen the Stamping Bella “Uptown Zodiac Girl Virgo”.  I am totally not. into the zodiac at all, but some of these stamps lend themselves very well to other purposes.

Here is a quick tutorial for this card:

  1. Cut a piece of Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth cardstock and stamp your image.
  2. Colour Using Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers in AP3, AP2 and AP1.
  3. To make the folds in the dress a made some dark “crease” areas with the AP3 and gradually blended out with AP2 and then AP1.
  4. Deepen the dark areas with AP3 and the blend all over with AP2 leaving slight highlights of the lightest AP1.
  5. Using a ColourBlend pencil in “geranium” deepen the shadows on the dress.
  6. Now don’t look to close at the hair as it was messed up, but I liked the rest of the card, so I went with it, it is also coloured with ColourBlend Pencils.
  7. In order to protect the image before distressing the background I used masking fluid on her hair as it was super think to cut out on masking paper.
  8. Stamp out the image in masking paper, don’t worry about the hair as you have the masking fluid, stick on top of your coloured image.
  9. Using a mini blending tool and Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Ink apply ink onto the background.
  10. Apply a little Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink to the edges and then some Vintage Photo Distress ink along the edge as well.
  11. Peel off the masking paper and then use your finger to rub off the masking fluid.
  12. I used the “Heartfelt Sentiments” stamp set buy Altenew paired with “icing on the Cake” Ink by Catherine Pooler.
  13. Using a small flower stamp from the “Birds of a Feather” Stamp set by Catherine Pooler stamp randomly around the background using Tattered Rose Distress Oxide Ink.

Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial!

Bunnies aren’t just for Easter!

So, I’m totally not a plan ahead card maker…I know what stamp I want to use and it just goes from there.  So I knew I wanted to use the Bunny Friends Stamp by Penny Black, but that is all I knew, but, I love how this one turned out!

  1. First I Stamped the Image using Catherine Pooler Midnight Black Ink, and then coloured using Spectrum Noir Illustrator Markers.
  2. I trimmed the card down to make even edge widths on the side and a decent amount left blank at the top.
  3. Who has the We R Memory Keepers Laser Square?! It is totally one of my favorite tools as my eyes never seem to see a straight line! So, I took the My Favorite Things Die-Namics Big Birthday die, lined it up, stuck it down with a little washi tape and ran it through my Gemini Junior.
  4. Once this is done, I cut a piece of acetate to size and adhered to the back of the cut out letters using my Nuvo Medium Glue Pen (let it sit for a few seconds to become nice and tacky before you stick down the acetate.
  5. Make a border around the back side of the letters with foam tape, and fill the enclosed are with sequins, cover over with a second piece of acetate (or white card).
  6. Using tape runner at the top and a few pieces of foam tape at the bottom stick the card front down onto a slightly larger piece of white cardstock, voila…Happy Birthday Bunnies!!

Hope you have enjoyed! Supply List Below:

Sneak Peek!!!

Coming up on July 11, 2017 Crafter’s Companion will be on HSN with LOTS of amazing new products and some returning favorites!

There is an amazing Signature Collection by Sara Davies called “Glamour”….the line is fantastic and I have been sent some to create with.  I’ve made tw cards so far using the following dies from the collection:

  • Dressed to Impress
  • Fabulous sentiment die
  • Charismatic Clutch
  • Sassy Shoe
  • Flourishing Frame

I have also used the Hot Pink Organza Ribbon and Adhesive Pearls that all belong to this range.

The quality of these products is top-notch! The dies cut and embossed beautifully and even thought they are very intricate they are easy to remove from the die once cut.

I am 100% in love with this range and will be creating lots more projects between now and July 11 so make sure to check back.  For now I leave you with a couple of cards!

Peeps! by Stamping Bella

Ok, I love this stamp and have been waiting to have time to use it…today was the day!

To make this card I used a white card blank, a piece of water-colour paper cut to 13cm x 13cm. I applied a little bit of blue and green distress ink to a piece of waxed paper, spritzed it with water and sponged on the sky and grass.  Once I was happy with the amount of colour I used a heat gun to speed up the drying time.

Using my We R Memory Keepers Precision Press I lined up the Stamping Bella “One of My Peeps” stamp and applied some black Ink. You then colour in the image using the coloured pencils of your choice and then again using the precision press line up the sentiment stamp and dry.

The next step was to dab the clouds on using the white glitter Wink of Stella pen (I like to use a mini pom-pom to do this).

I chose a white glitter card for the frame and then using the We R Memory Keepers Frame Punch Board cut out a 1/4″ frame to go around the water-colour paper, affixing it all using Crafter’s Companion Glue Tape.  The finishing touch was to apply Dew Drops by the Ton Stamps (I am obsessed with these).
